About the 7th edition: The Seventh Edition is a complete revision of the 2009 & 2010 Sixth Editions. All versions prior to the 2009 edition are horribly out of date – and should NOT be relied upon, whatsoever. The 7th edition has a significantly changed chapter on self defense, and an additional new chapter that goes into greater detail on self defense issues. However, significant material has been added to four other chapters, and all chapters underwent substantial editing and updating. The 7th edition is fifty (50) pages longer than the last printing of the Sixth edition! Only the 2010 printing of the Sixth Edition remains up-to-date with the online updates – although that version cannot be compared with expansion and updating in the newer Seventh Edition
“First, do no harm.” This is considered the “First Rule of Medicine”. If you can help someone, please do so. However, the last thing you want to do is something that will actually harm the person. This fear of hurting someone often interferes with treatment, because the helper simply has never learned what to do in such a situation. They want to help, but innately understand that they do not want to harm accidentally. They are following the “First Rule of Medicine”, without even having learned it. Wouldn’t it be better if they learned how to help, instead? That is the goal of this book. Remove the fear, and replace it with training, skills and confidence.
This book makes no attempt to convince the private citizen to acquire or carry firearms. It speaks to those who have already made the decision to do so, and endeavors only to advise them in the legal, ethical, and practical use of the deadly weapons they already own.
